Mysterious Stone Jars Of Laos Named Plain Of Jars

There are more than 90 such places in the Shiangkhuang Province of Laos, where there are more than 400 stone jars. Stone caps have also been found on many mats. The height of these mats is said to be from one to three meters.

During the Vietnam War, between 1964 and 1973, the US Air Force dropped more than 26 million cluster bombs in Shiangkhuang Province. However, there were several crores of them, which were not torn. In many areas with stone pots, these bombs are still lying in the same way. However, these bombs have been removed from some places.

Archaeologists believe that these thousands of mysterious stone pots are of Iron Age. Although the mystery of why they were made at that time is still unclear. But some scientists believe that they may have been used as an urn in the funeral procession.

This mysterious and unique place has been given the status of UNESCO World Heritage Site. The government of Laos had applied for it long ago, after which it was included in the World Heritage Sites on 6 July 2019.
